Erinn Frances Shoes

Story

Hello! I’m Erinn Miller-Davé. I’m the creative designer, shoemaker, pattern-maker, sander, cutter, leather trimmer, sole tacker & gluer.  I am the chief of everything here at Erinn Frances Shoes, guess that makes me the CCDSEOE (chief creative designer shoemaker executive officer of everything), Ha. My husband says I’m insane, I have no clue what he’s talking about. *wink*

I was born and raised in Yakima Wa, which is in the middle of the glorious Pacific Northwest. Raised by James an engineer & all around handyman at home, Kae a dental assistant & avid crafter/sewer extraordinaire on her time off. Kae got her crafty skills from her mother, my grandmother, Frances. Growing up I always plotted my escape from Yakima. Going to Seattle to attend art school and live in an apartment like in the movie Singles with a rocker boyfriend. Only part of that plot happened, I moved to Seattle and ended up going to community college because I was afraid to be a starving artist or art teacher after attending art school.  Within a year of flailing at college I found Massage School!  I went, I learned, I had fun and became a Licensed Massage Therapist & moved to the land of Spaaaaaa’s, Phoenix AZ. 13yrs in Arizona was not just spent in the spa world. I went back to college for a AAS in Interior Design & also found out that you can learn the craft of shoemaking by going to school from a lil’ Hollywood rom-com, P.S. I Love You. I ran straight home from the theater to google shoe design schools, applied to the University of the Arts London Cordwainer program, interviewed, was accepted, but didn’t have enough money to ever attend. Did that stop me from my new calling? NEVER! I found Tamera Lyndsay of The Shoe College to learn what I could to create the designs in my head. I did whatever I could to learn on my own online, on Instagram, from other shoe crafters in FB groups. I learned large scale shoe company design knowledge, from D’wayne Edwards of Pensole Academy at the Designskolen Kolding Denmark in collaboration with Ecco Shoes.

Now, I get messy & tinker out my ideas in my new home of Austin TX in a one bedroom apartment I share with hubby, Mayank, & our two old cats, Jasper & Doris. Launching Erinn Frances Shoes in 2020 was a no brainer after being furloughed from my massage career of 23yrs, a career I have been unhappy with for about a decade.  Since the lockdown of the world during the Pandemic I have been making, learning, researching, and developing my shoe company.

Erinn Frances the company believes in quality over quantity.  Kindness to the Earth and the people who live and work on it.  Recycle, reduce, and the reuse of items and products is an everyday fun challenge.  Comfortable shoes can have style.  We believe in slow fashion over fast fashion, we will make your shoe as soon as you order it to avoid wasting resources & packaging.

I hope the love I pour into my soles will fill your souls with as much joy as my heart is filled with to make them for y’all!
